About Our Church & Beliefs
HOW IT ALL STARTED...
Our church is part of the network of Christian Fellowship Ministries, founded by Pastor Wayman Mitchell.
In 1970 Pastor Mitchell went to Prescott, Arizona to take a small, struggling congregation. Shortly after arriving, God saved a number of hippies and they welcomed them into the church. God began a marvelous outpouring of conversions and growth in connection with the “Jesus Movement” of the 1970’s. As God revealed His plan for discipleship, churches began to be planted throughout the US, and that led to church planting and discipleship in many other nations. Pastor Mitchell traveled extensively throughout the world preaching in various conferences, rallies, leadership meetings, discipleship classes and healing crusades until early 2020.
Pastor Mitchell went home to his reward on September 21st, 2020, and left behind a world-changing move of God. We are blessed to be part of a fellowship knit together with the desire to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.
EXPANDING THE VISION...
The Door Christian Fellowship in Jacksonville, North Carolina was started as a church plant from our mother church in Bullhead City, Arizona in 1986.
The Bullhead City church sent a couple with a heart to share the gospel to Marines stationed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and the surrounding community. Pastor Dave & Vinita Szczepanski assumed leadership of the church in 1992 and have been faithfully serving our church since. Our church first started in a small storefront building on Marine Boulevard and later moved into a larger building on Bell Fork Road. As we met at the Bell Fork location our church began to grow and replicate the pattern of our fellowship by discipling and planting churches, launching our first foreign missionary work into the nation of Russia.
In 2010, we took a leap of faith purchasing a 32,000 square foot building off Western Blvd in Jacksonville, NC, enabling church growth and international Bible Conferences.
WHERE WE ARE HEADED...
Our church continues to follow the mandate of Christ, "go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature". As a mother church we have planted and continue to plant stateside church plants and missionary works into Russia, Poland, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Guyana, and Indonesia.
As we continue to follow Mark 16:15, our Greensboro church strives to be a lighthouse in increasingly unstable times, providing a beacon of hope to those who are searching for answers.

Mission & Vision
1. Evangelism
Taking the Gospel outside the walls in obedience to Mark 16:15 ("Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature").
2. The Local Church
God's will is accomplished in and through us as we connect and commit ourselves to a local body (Ephesians 1:22-23).
3. Church Planting
Sending couples to plant brand new congregations (Matthew 9:37-38 "the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few").
4. Conversion
We witness and preach for a decision. The Gospel transforms lives by the power of God (1 Peter 1:23).
5. Discipleship
Training and equipping believers within the local church setting to obey Matthew 28:19-20.
6. World Evangelism
Praying, training, investing, sending, and supporting workers worldwide across every culture and nation.
Statement of Faith
- 1. The Triune God: Only one God, eternally existent in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
- 2. God the Father: Creator of the universe who created man for fellowship and called man back through Christ.
- 3. Jesus Christ: Eternally God, incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, forever one Christ with two natures—God and man.
- 4. The Holy Spirit: God and giver of life who empowers believers for service, witness, and holiness.
- 5. Holy Spirit Baptism: Baptism in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, releasing spiritual gifts.
- 6. The Bible: The Old and New Testaments are the infallible, inspired Word of God and ultimate authority.
- 7. Atonement: Christ's vicarious death on the cross paid the penalty for sin and provides healing for body, soul, and spirit.
- 8. Salvation: Free gift of God by grace through faith, personal repentance, and receiving Jesus as Savior.
- 9. Christian Life: One of consecration, devotion, and ongoing sanctification against spiritual warfare.
- 10. The Church: Body of Christ where believers are equipped for the Great Commission.
- 11. Ordinances: Water Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ.
- 12. Second Coming & Judgment: Bodily return of Jesus Christ, resurrection of saints, and final judgment.
